Visa Interview 1

hi friends

my interview was on 30th november 2006
at 1:00 pm, mumbai.
this is how my interview went
it lasted for about 2-3 minutes..

me : good afternoon mam..
(the vo was a lady of approx. 28-30 years age)
vo : oh good afternoon gentleman, how r u?
(with a big smile on her face)
me : i m fine mam, thank u.
vo : pink token please.
(i gave)
vo : why u want to go to US?
me : to pursue my masters in construction management
from stevens institute of technology, new jersey.
vo : what is "construction management"?
me : it's an interdisciplinary program between civil
engg. and management.
vo : so after ur graduation, u will be project manager
in some big construction company making bridge or like
that, right?
me : yes mam.
vo : why construction management only?
me : mam, i did my undergrads in architecture, and
during my 2 years practical knowledge...
(she stopped me on that)
vo : so, u r an architect, who is ur favorite
architect?
( here comes d googley, as i knew it could be tricky,
to get some time to think, i asked...)
me : pardon mam..
(when she repeated d question, i thought abt d answer)
me : mam, architect richard meier..
vo : hmmm, why richard meier only?
( i knew she will bowl that yorker..but these were d
important overs and i was ready to hit a six)
me : mam, in his work, he always uses envirnmental
friendly materials, recently he build a church in rome
where he used a special coating, which eat the smog
around it and reduces the pollution.. so apart from
his being a master designer, i am impressed with his
environment friendly designs...
(gotcha !! she was impressed with d answer, and i knew
i have an advantage now)
(now one lady came from back-office, and two of them
were talking abt something...meantime i was following
d golden rule...KEEP SMILING.. after that lady was
gone...)
vo : so u r from ahmedabad.. have u visited the house
designed by le corbusier in ahmedabad?
me : yes mam that is shodhan house..
(but forgot to tell her about sarabhai house)
vo : one of my friend stays in that street only..
me : that's good mam.
(what can i say more.. she was constantly
typing my answers in computer)
vo : how will u take care of ur finance gentleman
me : my father was working for so and so years in
state government on so and so position, now he runs
his own consultancy firm in so and so field. apart
from that my brother and sister-in-law both of them
are so and so, and since last two years i m also an
earning member of my family..
vo : thats good
(now after completing typing, she stared at me for
10-15 seconds, thinking something and i was having a
big smile on my face than she scribbled something in
my ds-forms and told me that...)
vo : i m granting ur visa gentleman, ur passport will
reach ur home within 2-3 days..
me : thank u very much mam
(glad to here that u know, it was like music to my
ears, i was turning and leaving d cabin when she told
me that...)
vo : gentleman please take ur i-20. u will need that
when u will arrive in USA.
me : oh, sure mam.
( i completely forgot about that)
so that was it friends..
i was quickly out of her cabin and consulate..
